Should the NBA Change Its Logo? 5 Players Who Could Replace Jerry West

G'day Hive. What do you reckon? Should the NBA change it's logo? Since it's creation in 1969 the NBA logo has become one of the most recognisable images in sport. The league has never acknowledged that the logo is the silhouette of former Lakers legend Jerry West but it's a very well known fact that it is.

The NBA aren't looking into changing the logo but perhaps it's time they explore modernizing the logo. Let's take a look at players who could be the next NBA logo:

Kobe Bryant

Following Kobe Bryant's untimely death there was momentum with petitions making the rounds for Bryant's silhouette to replace the outdated West logo. It would be an impressive way to honor Kobe's legacy having inspired the current generation of players with his 'Mamba Mentality'. Kobe wasn't the best player in history but he's certainly one of the most influential, leaving a lasting legacy in the league which you can see in the style of play of many superstars including Devin Booker and Donovan Mitchell.

Michael Jordan

Considered the Greatest of All-Time by many, Michael Jordan would be a fitting image as the logo of the NBA and Doc Rivers believes so as well. On a global scale no player has made a greater impact on the league than he has. It would be a bit complicated as Jordan Brand's 'Jumpman' logo is already iconic to the brand. Creating a different styled image that would serve the league as well as avoiding a clash with Jordan Brand would be difficult.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Kareem Abdul Jabbar is in a class by himself. So unstoppable was his sky hook shot he had to wear glasses as opposing players would target poking his eyes. With the most points in NBA history, the most All-Star appearances, six league MVP titles and a six-time NBA Champion, Kareem was simply unplayable because of his sky hook which would be a fitting NBA logo.

Wilt Chamberlain

With his 100-point game, the most points in history in a single NBA game an NBA game, Wilt Chamberlain was on the most complete players in NBA history. His size, speed and his skill on both the offensive and defensive end made him unplayable. Chamberlain had a unique finger roll in an era where it wasn't created yet which could serve well as the NBA's logo.

Lebron James

Lebron James is always in the conversation along with Michael Jordan as the greatest NBA player of all-time. LeBron is closing in on Kareem Abdul Jabbar's All-Star appearance record and his tomahawk dunk could be an explosive way to represent the NBA brand with a new logo.
